Oscar Bautista

Sharonview Federal Credit Union

Native of Rowan County, NC

Industry: Financial

Oscar Bautista is no stranger to Rowan County. He grew up in the Woodleaf area and now works for Sharonview Federal Credit Union. He describes himself as authentic, committed, and a nature enthusiast. His passion for his hometown shows not only through his work but through his commitment to making Rowan County a better place for those who live here.

At their home near the Bullhole at River Park, Bautista spent a lot of time helping his parents with their farm business. Because he’s bilingual, he developed the skills of translating and advocating for his parents.

Bautista says that “the individuals” are what make living in Rowan County like nowhere else. “I feel like Rowan County has individuals with common goals and aspirations” and that “brings us together to help one another succeed leading us to advocate for one another.” With that attitude, it isn’t surprising that he spends his free time heavily involved in local organizations like the Rowan Rotary, Minority Business Group in Rowan, Leadership Rowan Class #31, Young Professionals of Rowan, and he’s a member of the Rowan Chamber of Commerce. He’s also recently worked with the Rowan Partners for Education Foundation which helps Rowan Salisbury CTE students connect to various community members and welcomes them into the workforce.

For those wishing to explore what Salisbury has to offer downtown, Oscar would send them to Salty Caper or New Sarum Brewing. He would also recommend Sabaidee Thai & Sushi Bar and El Patron for those patrons who desire a culturally diverse dining experience. He also enjoyed last year’s first Hispanic heritage celebration at Bell Tower Green. He hopes the heritage celebration will continue to grow and show off how culturally diverse and welcoming Rowan County is.

The desire for a better Rowan County is not a selfish one for Bautista, he recently became a father and enjoys family-friendly RoCo original spots like Dan Nicholas Park, where he frequently walks and runs with his two dogs and Lazy 5 Ranch, which allows him to reconnect with his roots as he interacts with the animals..

Bautista believes that being a Rowan County original means someone “who has contributed to the opportunities of the community…someone that understands the gift and strength of this town and the individuals.” He loves that Rowan County is committed to improvement and sees that our area “has so much potential and opportunities.“
