We are only a couple of weeks into the new year, but man has it been a doozy. Between heading back to work after the holidays and daily breaking news, much of America is feeling stressed out, exhausted and totally overwhelmed. In times like these it is important that we take time out to embrace our emotions, heal our hearts and take care of ourselves, mind, body and spirit. Fortunately, here in Rowan County, we have amazing artisans to help us do just that. When I first heard about Roman & Grey Beauty, I assumed it was a mass-produced bath and beauty company. The empowering slogans, modern product names and labels, and gorgeous website blew me away. When I realized that all of this had been created by one local woman, I just had to learn more.

About the Maker
Roman & Grey Beauty is a locally run business that specializes in unique, eco-friendly bath and beauty products. Each product is handcrafted in Salisbury, North Carolina by owner and operator Natasha Nesta. Originally from Sweetwater, Tennessee (about 45 minutes outside of Knoxville), Natasha and her family moved to Rowan towards the end of 2014, early 2015 to be closer to her husband’s family. Natasha is a licensed massage therapist and doula who began dabbling in making bath and body products in 2012 by making cold processed soap. “What really pulled me in is that I liked the idea of making products for me to use on my clients in my petite boutique spa but also on my two younger sons,” she shared. “Because they have such sensitive skin and eczema, a lot of the body products that were available in stores have really harsh chemicals that irritated and inflamed their skin. I did a lot of research and found an online herbalism school that had a brief introduction to sugar scrubs, soaps, and other bath products and I went down the rabbit hole.”
About the Products
Named after Natasha’s children, Roman & Grey started from humble beginnings in a tiny downstairs studio space. With a desire to create products that embrace and celebrate our individual, fun and unique qualities, R&G has quickly exploded into a flirty, sexy and empowering brand that men, women and children can enjoy. R&G’s luxury artisan bath products include beautifully colored bath bombs that resemble a piece of art. With catchy names like, “Slide in my DMs,” “Bad & Bougie,” and “Stop Wafflin’,” these fun little bath bombs are available in 2.5 oz and 6 oz varieties. In addition to the deeply saturated colors, these bath bombs offer lovely fragrance variations that include the scents of flower petals, vanilla, berries, coconut milk, and citrus, among others. If you are having trouble deciding where to start, check out the “Baker’s Dozen” and start mixing and matching to your heart’s content!
Other bath products include a wide variety of sugar scrubs that can be used in the bath or the shower. These scrubs “are a three-in-one bath treat” that cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize the skin. These popular sugar scrubs are available is super cute 8 oz jars and share some of the same funky names as the bath bombs. The number one seller in the “MFing Queen,” which incorporates “tart wedges of deep golden pineapple in creamy coconut milk.” These are blended with peach nectar and pink guava to create a delicious scent that customers can’t get enough of. “MFing Queen” is available as a bath bomb, sugar scrub or whipped soap. It is based off the quote “stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside.” Natasha explained that “the pineapple has these pointy defenses but once you get past that, it’s super sweet. And that’s what I want everyone to understand, be yourself but also be sweet and kind.”
