Fall Arts in Rowan County

Rowan County’s creative side is just as vibrant as its festival season this fall. From gallery exhibits to community theater to live music every week, there’s no shortage of ways to support local artists and soak in some culture. Here’s what’s on stage, on display, and on tap this fall.

On Display

• Formed, Fired, and Woven: Women in Material (Now – Oct. 10) — a compelling exhibit at Waterworks Visual Arts Center celebrating women artists working in clay, fiber, and other materials
• Hispanic Heritage Month Exhibit (Now – Oct. 31) — a celebration of Hispanic heritage and culture through art, running throughout the fall

On Stage

• Piedmont Players Presents: “Cinderella Jr.” (Now – Oct. 4) — a family-friendly musical adaptation of the beloved fairy tale, perfect for the whole family
• Piedmont Players Presents: “Fiddler on the Roof” (Oct. 9 – Oct. 25) — a timeless classic full of heart, humor, and unforgettable music
• Lee St. Theatre Presents: “The House on Haunted Hill” (Oct. 16, 17, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31) — a spooky, theatrical treat that’s the perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit
• Lee St. Theatre Presents: “The Hunchback of Notre Dame in Concert” (Nov. 13 – Nov. 15) — a beautifully staged musical experience to close out the season

Live Music & Community Events

• Buskers’ Bash (Oct. 2) — street performers bring downtown Salisbury to life for an evening full of music and energy
• Southern Soul Music Festival (Oct. 24) — live music with heart and soul, right here in Rowan County 

Ongoing & Recurring

• Open Mic at Cauble Creek Vineyard (Now – Nov. 8) — a laid-back evening of local talent paired with a glass of local wine
• Open Mic Mondays at Shug’s (Recurring, 1st Monday of the month) — a great way to catch rising local talent all season long
