Rowan-Salisbury School System Announces New RSS Chief Financial Officer
The Rowan-Salisbury School System (RSS) proudly welcomes Katelyn Huneycutt to the district leadership team as its new chief financial officer.
Huneycutt brings more than 10 years of leadership experience in North Carolina public education, including fiscal oversight for one of the state’s largest school districts. She joins RSS from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), where she served as assistant finance officer. Her prior experience also includes serving as executive director of budget development and management services with CMS, staff accountant with McRae Industries, and accountant with Cabarrus County Schools.
In this role, Huneycutt will provide strategic financial leadership to support and advance the district’s educational mission. She will oversee and manage an integrated system to plan fiscal needs, ensure proper accounting for all receipts and disbursements, make sound investments of cash balances, and report to the superintendent.
As she steps into the chief financial officer role, Huneycutt brings a proven ability to build collaborative partnerships and lead complex financial decisions, continuing to support financial processes across the district.
“We are excited to welcome Ms. Katelyn Huneycutt to Rowan-Salisbury Schools,” said RSS superintendent Dr. Kelly Withers. “Her experience in school finance and commitment to collaborative leadership will be valuable assets to our district. Strong financial leadership plays an important role in ensuring we use our resources effectively to support our schools, our staff, and, most importantly, our students.”
