Rowan-Salisbury Schools Names William Gomola Principal of West Rowan High School
The Rowan-Salisbury School System (RSS) is proud to announce William Gomola as the new principal of West Rowan High School. With more than 17 years of experience in education, including eight years in school administration, Gomola brings strong leadership and a focus on meeting students’ and staff goals.
Gomola joins RSS from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where he recently served as Assistant Principal for Instruction at West Charlotte High School. His previous roles include assistant principal, dean of students, health and physical education teacher, and assistant athletic director.
Throughout his career in education, Gomola has gained extensive experience in instructional leadership, student support, and schoolwide improvement. He has led master scheduling, supported multiple instructional departments, coordinated professional learning, and used student and school data to guide goals and improvement efforts. Gomola was also a member of the 2024-2026 CMS Principal Ready Cohort and the 2025-2026 North Carolina Future Ready Leaders Cohort, further developing his leadership skills and preparing for the principalship.
