“Rowan County has always been home to me. It has the small town feel but offers all the amenities that we need and is centrally located to the mountains, beach, and an easy trip to Charlotte and airports. My husband Tim and I love traveling, especially going on cruises, but it is great to come home. It’s nice to have roots.
Rowan County is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. We have so many things to be proud of – our arts community, options for higher education and our growing downtown area.
We moved to High Rock Lake about 15 years ago. I always loved going to the lake as a teenager when my family owned a fishing cabin at Panther Point. I don’t really fish, but love seeing how folks appreciate the lake with recreational fun, fishing, and boating. Our granddaughters are definitely learning to love the lake too.”
What does be an Original mean to me? “Finding your own niche, and friends that make you happy. One of my favorite Your Rowan Originals activity is our bi-monthly Floatillas. Friends from the lake come together for a floating potluck dinner and cocktails at the main channel on High Rock Lake during the summer months.
I have found the best way to engage in the Rowan County community is finding your own niche. I have served on several Boards including the Rowan-Salisbury Chamber, Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, Church, High Rock Lake Association, and past president of our HOA.”
