Strong Roots. Stronger Community. The YMCA in Rowan County
More Than a Gym. A Community Anchor.
The YMCA is far more than a place to work out — it’s a place where lives are shaped, relationships are built, and wellbeing is nurtured at every stage of life. From young children learning to swim to active older adults focused on mobility and independence, the YMCA is there every step of the journey.
Across Rowan County, the YMCA proudly provides:
- Childcare and after-school programs that support working families
- Youth sports and leadership programs that build confidence, character, and lifelong skills
- Senior wellness opportunities that promote health, movement, and meaningful connection
These offerings do more than serve individuals — they strengthen the entire community by creating welcoming spaces where everyone belongs.
Three Branches. One Commitment to Wellness.
Each Rowan County YMCA branch offers its own distinct atmosphere and amenities, ensuring there’s a perfect fit for every lifestyle and fitness goal:
J.F. Hurley Family YMCA (Salisbury)
A dynamic community hub featuring two indoor pools, indoor and outdoor tracks, a splash pad, pickleball courts, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
Fred Corriher YMCA (South Rowan / China Grove)
Known for its expansive group fitness offerings, racquetball and pickleball courts, an indoor running track, and a full-size pool — ideal for individuals, families, and fitness enthusiasts alike.
Saleeby-Fisher YMCA (Rockwell)
A close-knit, welcoming branch focused on cardio and strength training, personal training, and community connection. With an indoor pool, it’s a favorite destination for year-round fitness and low-impact exercise.
Pickleball: Where Fun Meets Connection
Pickleball has quickly become one of the most popular activities at Rowan County YMCAs — and for good reason. With courts and programming available at all three branches, the sport brings together players of all ages for friendly competition, laughter, and connection. Whether picking up a paddle for the first time or joining a regular game, pickleball is another way the YMCA builds community through movement.
A Powerful Partnership for Lifelong Health
The Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA’s partnership with Novant Health reflects a forward-thinking approach to community wellness. With Novant Health physical therapy clinics located directly inside YMCA facilities, individuals benefit from a seamless transition between clinical care and long-term fitness.
Patients receive one-on-one physical therapy while also utilizing YMCA amenities such as the gym and pool, including aquatic therapy for low-impact rehabilitation. As recovery progresses, participants are supported in transitioning from therapy into YMCA programs designed to maintain strength, balance, and mobility — including specialized offerings for those managing chronic or neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease.
This integrated approach removes barriers, builds confidence, and empowers individuals to move from recovery into lifelong wellness. YMCA staff further support this journey by helping individuals explore membership options and financial assistance, ensuring continued access for all.
Rooted in Rowan County. Focused on the Future.
For generations, the YMCA has been woven into the fabric of Rowan County — strengthening families, supporting health, and bringing people together. Whether it’s a child learning to swim, neighbors connecting on a pickleball court, or an older adult staying active and independent, the YMCA remains a trusted partner in building a healthier, stronger community.
The Y isn’t just a place to work out. It’s a place to belong.
