Faith 4th of July Celebration & Parade: A Rowan County Tradition

by | Jun 8, 2026 | Attractions

Every summer, the small town of Faith, North Carolina, transforms into one of the most patriotic places in the state. Streets fill with red, white, and blue, families gather for food and fireworks, and generations of Rowan County residents return year after year for one of the area’s most beloved traditions: the Faith 4th of July Celebration & Parade.

For many locals, the celebration is more than just a holiday event — it’s a family tradition, a community reunion, and a symbol of hometown pride. And for those who are new to Rowan County, it’s one of the best ways to experience the heart of this community.

A Tradition Since 1946

The Faith 4th of July Celebration has deep roots in Rowan County history. While early gatherings in Faith date back even further, the annual celebration officially returned after World War II and has continued ever since.

What started as small community picnics and games eventually grew into one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in North Carolina. Over the years, the event has welcomed visitors from across the region — including President George H.W. Bush, who attended the celebration in 1992.

Today, the event is organized by the Faith Civitan Club, Faith American Legion Post #327, and the Faith American Legion Auxiliary, with the help of countless volunteers who spend months preparing for the week-long celebration.

And yes — the food is just as legendary as the fireworks.

Each year, volunteers prepare:

  • 4,500 pounds of barbecued shoulders
  • 5,000 hot dogs
  • 7,000 hamburgers
  • 1,800 pounds of country ham
  • 5,000 ice cream cones
  • 20,000 drinks

It’s truly a community effort, and one that keeps people coming back generation after generation.

What to Expect at the Faith 4th Celebration

The celebration includes a full week of rides, games, concerts, contests, food, and patriotic festivities leading up to Independence Day.

One of the biggest highlights is the midway filled with rides and attractions, which draws families from all across the area. In 2026, the celebration welcomes Michael’s Amusement with new rides and attractions throughout the week.

Visitors can also enjoy:

  • Free nightly concerts
  • Classic races and games
  • A watermelon eating contest
  • Egg tosses and sack races
  • Food booths and local vendors
  • Fireworks
  • The annual parade through downtown Faith

Most activities take place around Faith American Legion Park and the Faith Elementary School grounds, creating that nostalgic small-town atmosphere so many people associate with summer in Rowan County.

The Faith Fourth Parade

The annual Faith Fourth of July Parade is one of the biggest traditions of the entire celebration.

The 2026 parade begins at 10 a.m. on July 4 and stretches down Main Street through the heart of town. Residents line the streets early in the morning to grab spots for the parade featuring veterans, local organizations, classic vehicles, community groups, and plenty of patriotic spirit.

This year’s Grand Marshal is:
Lewis Reid — Korean Army Veteran and longtime Honor Guard member with more than 25,000 volunteer hours at the VA Hospital.

After the parade, the day continues with:

  • Food booths opening downtown
  • Flag raising ceremony and National Anthem
  • Crowning of Miss Rowan County Veteran
  • Rides opening at noon
  • Evening games and contests
  • Hot dog eating contest
  • Fireworks at 10:30 p.m.

Fireworks in Faith

If you’ve never experienced fireworks in Faith, prepare for a crowd — and arrive early.

The fireworks display takes place at 10:30 p.m. on July 4 at the Faith Academy Charter School Ballpark and is one of the largest Independence Day fireworks shows in the area.

Because traffic becomes extremely heavy closer to showtime, organizers recommend arriving before 8 p.m. if you plan to attend the fireworks.

Shuttle parking lots are also available to help reduce downtown congestion.

Shiloh 5K Mission Run

The celebration weekend also includes the annual Shiloh 5K Mission Run/Walk & Half-Mile Fun Run hosted by Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith.

The event supports mission teams that have served communities across the United States and abroad for more than 20 years.
